Roka Furadada achieves European Commission’s Seal of Excellence
Roka Furadada has won the European Commission’s Seal of Excellence for its Smart Ultraviolet Radiation Filters (SMART UV) project.
The Seal has been awarded following a highly competitive evaluation process by a panel of international experts who found Roka’s project to be of a very high standard. In fact, out of the 134 shortlisted entries —from a total of 4,223 submissions— Roka Furadada’s project was singled out for commendation. With its Seal of Excellence, the European Commission recommends Roka’s SMART UV project for funding by other sources other than the Commission’s, as the resources available for this call were limited.
Roka Furadada’s Smart Ultraviolet Radiation Filters offer protection from sunlight in order to prevent cancer and other skin conditions that stem from the toxic effects of exposure to UV radiation. The firm’s first product is a range of new photostable solar filters that are up to 6 times more efficient, have no side effects on people and are environmentally-friendly, especially as far as the marine environment is concerned. The filters are based on a Roka patent and will go to market in 2021.
